Sakarya University, institutionally and through its academics, is directly involved in the development of the national government's Sustainable Development Goals policy; this includes identifying problems and challenges, developing policies and strategies, modeling possible futures with and without intervention, monitoring and reporting interventions, and ensuring adaptive management.

Through international collaboration and research, Sakarya University reviews comparative approaches and develops international best practices in tackling the Sustainable Development Goals. As an institution, Sakarya University cooperates with NGOs to combat the Sustainable Development Goals.
