Sustainability and Procurement Policies

Sakarya University is committed to integrating sustainability into its core operations, encompassing both investment and procurement policies.

The university prioritizes investments in renewable energy sources, aligning with its goal of becoming carbon-neutral by 2053. Since 2023, Sakarya University has supported renewable energy production exceeding its own consumption through International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC), sourced from hydroelectric, wind, and solar power.

Sakarya University has developed a comprehensive ethical sourcing policy to ensure that the food and other products it procures are obtained responsibly and sustainably. This policy aims to promote ethical behavior in resource usage, taking into account environmental and social sustainability principles.

These policies are part of the university's broader commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, guiding its operations toward environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
