Maternity and Paternity Policies

According to the Civil Servants Law No. 657 at Sakarya University, female employees have the right to paid leave before and after birth. After the paid leave period expires, female employees can extend their maternity leave period for up to 2 years without pay. Male employees have the right to receive paid paternity leave after giving birth. Female employees are given maternity leave for three hours a day for the first six months and one and a half hours a day for the second six months, after the end of the maternity leave period, to breastfeed their child. The choice of the female employee is essential regarding the hours and number of times per day that maternity leave will be used (URL1, URL2).
