University Governance Measures

Student participation at Sakarya University is provided in various ways. As in all universities in Turkey, there is a Student Council formed by students elected through the Student Representation System (https://www.sakarya.edu.tr/senato-s12.html). The student representative is also a natural member of the university Senate. In addition, Sakarya University has further strengthened student participation by establishing a Student Senate (https://ogrsen.sakarya.edu.tr/tr). Participation is also provided with student members of the university's Quality Commission (https://saudek.sakarya.edu.tr/tr/personel-liste/15394/3246/sau-kalite-komisyonu). Academicians participate in the Senate and unit Boards through representatives.

The Student Council is an independent student body led by the president elected from among the elected members of the units. In addition, with the formation of the Student Senate, the university has ensured the representation of different student groups (https://ogrsen.sakarya.edu.tr/tr). In the Student Senate, there are different student groups such as foreign students, students with disabilities, female students, successful students, as well as members of the Student Council.

Sakarya University's written policies and procedures for identifying and communicating with local stakeholders are specified in the strategic plan and monitored with performance indicators. Sakarya University has Advisory Boards established on the basis of all units to ensure the involvement of local residents, local government, local private sector and local civil society representatives.

Academic freedom is defined within the institutional core values of the university and shared with its stakeholders. The core values of the university are determined by taking the opinions of stakeholders within the scope of the preparation of the strategic plan. Our academics are free to work in the field they want. As can be understood from the appointment and promotion policy, there is no field guidance. In accordance with corporate transparency, which is included in the university's corporate values, the university regularly publishes its financial and non-financial data and reports through its corporate web pages.

Sakarya University provides and supports the appointment of experts at national, regional and local levels by the decision of the university board of directors. The Technology Transfer Office structure within Sakarya Teknokent was created to facilitate the knowledge transfer of academicians. Academicians of the university offer their expertise in this context by appointing experts.
