As an institution, Sakarya University collaborates with NGOs to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, it supports the activities of student communities within the university in this direction. Resources are also allocated and support is provided for academic activities conducted by the university’s academic staff based on the SDGs.
Strong Cooperation between Sakarya University and Yeşilay
The cooperation between Sakarya University and Yeşilay (the Green Crescent), one of Türkiye’s leading organizations in the fight against addiction, is becoming stronger day by day. Within this scope, academics and administrators from Sakarya University, as well as senior executives from Yeşilay, gathered at a meeting held on April 15, 2024, at Sepetçiler Mansion to exchange views on joint projects, awareness activities, and expanding areas of social impact in the fight against addiction. This cooperation promotes a healthy lifestyle and fosters social solidarity among institutions.

Strengthening Awareness through the Workshop on Violence Prevention Strategies at Sakarya University
In cooperation with the Coordination Office for Social Contribution and Sustainability (TOKAS), the Women’s Studies Center, Sakarya Technocity, and the Sakarya Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, a “Violence Prevention Strategies Workshop” was organized at Sakarya University. The workshop was implemented to raise social Awareness in combating violence, developing preventive strategies, and strengthening inter-institutional solidarity. This event has become an exemplary model of cooperation that contributes to the construction of an egalitarian, safe, and inclusive society.
Strategic Cooperation Protocol Signed between Sakarya University and TÜYAFED
A comprehensive protocol was signed between Sakarya University and the Turkish Software Developers Federation (TÜYAFED) to strengthen knowledge-based collaborations in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. This protocol was implemented with the objectives of developing the software ecosystem, training qualified human resources, and institutionalizing university–sector interaction. The partnership constitutes an exemplary model in terms of promoting technological innovation, supporting an entrepreneurship culture, and ensuring sustainable, digital transformation-oriented economic growth. This cooperation reflects the power of university–private sector partnerships to create social impact through knowledge sharing and capacity building.


Green Transformation Awareness: “Nature-Friendly Truck” at Sakarya University
Sakarya University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, continues to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable living consciousness through the Green Campus Festival that it organizes. During the festival, the “Nature-Friendly Truck” Project, conducted by the ministry, met with students and stakeholders at the Sakarya University Helicopter Field, raising awareness about the protection of natural resources, combating climate change, and promoting green transformation. This event stands out as a remarkable example of collaboration between public institutions and universities in the field of environmental sustainability, contributing to the development of multi-stakeholder environmental awareness initiatives.
“Smoke-Free Campus” Implementation for a Healthy Life at Esentepe Campus
Sakarya University has implemented an important partnership initiative through the Smoke-Free Campus Program, aiming to strengthen a healthy lifestyle culture and to promote its sustainable campus vision. Within this scope, in cooperation with the Addiction Prevention Application and Research Center and the Coordination Office for Social Contribution and Sustainability (TOKAS), and with the partnership of Sakarya Yeşilay (Green Crescent), an event was held, and Sakarya University Esentepe Campus was declared a “Smoke-Free Campus.” This initiative stands out as an example where public–university–civil society cooperation makes a tangible contribution to healthy living policies. In addition, as of the 2024–2025 academic year, it is aimed to implement the Smoke-Free Campus model across all campuses, which will make a significant contribution to the dissemination of institutional sustainability culture.
“Kindness and Volunteering Movement” Seminar Held at Sakarya University
The “Kindness and Volunteering Movement” seminar, organized by Sakarya University (SAU) at the Turgut Özal Culture and Congress Center, aimed to promote social solidarity and raise awareness of volunteering The event provided an important platform for raising awareness by encouraging students’ participation in social responsibility projects, promoting a culture of social contribution through volunteering, and strengthening university–community cooperation This activity is a strong example of solidarity-oriented initiatives undertaken by the university in collaboration with social stakeholders.

Within the scope of Türkiye Environment Week activities, a training program themed “We All Have One World!” was organized by the Coordination Office for Social Contribution and Sustainability (TOKAS) of Sakarya University for the students of SAU Foundation Private School. The training aimed to instill environmental awareness in young people at an early age, develop sustainable living habits, and increase eco-friendly awareness among younger generations. This event represented an important example of environment-focused collaborations carried out by Sakarya University in cooperation with local stakeholders.

A First in Türkiye: “Women in Business” Micro-Credential Program by Sakarya University
The “Women in Business Micro-Credential Program”, the first initiative of the “Women Shaping the Future Academy” developed under the leadership of the Coordination Office for Social Contribution and Sustainability (TOKAS), was implemented in cooperation with Sakarya Technocity and the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO). The program aims to strengthen the career planning, sustainability, project management, and leadership skills of female students as they prepare for professional life. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration between the public sector, the university, and the private sector, stands out as an innovative model of cooperation that supports the economic and social empowerment of women.
