Participatory Bodies for Local Stakeholder Engagement

Sakarya University implements structured and continuous engagement with local stakeholders through formal participatory bodies established across all academic units. These bodies include representatives from local government, professional chambers, non-governmental organizations, local businesses, civil society groups, and community members. This approach ensures inclusive consultation processes aligned with SDG 16 principles of transparent, accountable, and participatory governance.

The University’s Strategic Plan (2023–2027) defines stakeholder participation as a core governance priority. Stakeholder mapping, participation mechanisms, and communication structures are outlined as part of institutional planning and evaluation processes. These policies ensure that stakeholder engagement is systemic rather than event-based.

During 2024, Advisory Boards at the faculty and department level continued to operate as formal stakeholder engagement mechanisms. These boards provide structured input on curriculum relevance, workforce alignment, community needs, practical training opportunities, and regional development priorities. Meetings are conducted periodically and documented to ensure traceability and impact.

The University Quality Commission integrates internal and external stakeholders into quality assurance and continuous improvement processes. This supports collaborative decision-making, performance monitoring, and institutional accountability.

Additionally, the Technology Transfer Office (operating through Sakarya Teknokent) serves as a dedicated interface connecting university researchers with public institutions, private sector organizations, entrepreneurs, and local development agencies. This ensures applied research collaboration, innovation capacity development, and knowledge transfer into the local community.

Annual Administrative Activity Reports provide publicly accessible documentation of engagement results, strengthening transparency and demonstrating active implementation throughout the 2024 calendar year.
