Sakarya University collaborates with various national and international stakeholders to implement best practices in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university conducts joint projects with other universities, research centers, the private sector, and civil society organizations to develop pioneering projects in sustainable development. These collaborations facilitate the achievement of environmental, economic, and social sustainability goals by enabling the sharing of innovative solutions and best practices. Through seminars, workshops, and conferences, Sakarya University promotes the exchange of knowledge and experiences, thereby increasing awareness in the field of sustainable development and contributing to the dissemination of best practices. These efforts reinforce the university’s commitment and leadership in achieving sustainable development goals.

Sakarya University Takes Part in the European Union’s Highest-Budget Project

Sakarya University has achieved significant success with the project “PURSUE – Sustainable Development Project with Africa,” led by Dr. Tuba Tatar, a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. The project has been awarded the highest-budget grant ever provided to Sakarya University by the European Union. This significant achievement not only strengthens the university’s international research capacity but also contributes to the advancement of sustainable development and the promotion of global partnerships.

Sakarya University’s “Language Tree” Project Strengthens Its Research University Vision

The “Language Tree” Project, which makes a significant contribution to Sakarya University’s goal of becoming a research university, continues to attract attention with its innovative approach in the field of social sciences. Supported by the European Union and the Turkish National Agency, and carried out within the scope of the Erasmus+ KA220-YOU Program, this prestigious project has developed an innovative model for teaching Turkish to bilinguals and foreigners at the international level. Within the scope of the project, the “International Certificate Program on Teaching Turkish to Bilinguals and Foreigners” was completed with the contribution of Sakarya University TÖMER, thereby making a substantial contribution to the university’s goals of internationalization in education and sustainable academic cooperation.

Sakarya University’s Sustainable Development Initiative Extending to Africa

Progressing with determined steps on the path to becoming a Research University, Sakarya University continues to prove its scientific achievements at the international level. The university has taken on a leading role in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by coordinating a European Union (EU) project with a budget of 780,000 euros. This important project represents a strategic step for strengthening Sakarya University’s global research capacity and expanding its international cooperation networks.

Sakarya University Students Participated in the “Solution Challenge” Competition with Three Projects

Sakarya University students continue to achieve significant successes in line with the university’s internationalization goals. The Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC), one of the student communities at our university, participated in the globally organized “Solution Challenge” competition, themed around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, with three innovative projects. Through their projects titled “SociaFit,” “Detection of Fake and Real News,” and “EcoPoint,” the students developed solutions focused on technology, social impact, and sustainability, making Sakarya University’s contribution to the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem visible at the international level.

The University’s First Jean Monnet Module Project Accepted

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Bayrakcı, faculty member of the Department of Educational Sciences at Sakarya University, has achieved the success of becoming the first academic at our university to receive Jean Monnet Module support with his project titled “SUSTAINEU.” This project contributes to the European Union’s goals of promoting sustainable education policies and European values in higher education, while strengthening Sakarya University’s international academic visibility and its research collaborations with Europe.

CinEd European Union Project Meeting Held at Sakarya University

Within the scope of the Creative Europe Media Program, the CinEd European Union Project, which aims to enhance the visibility of European cinema in comparison to Hollywood cinema and encourage young people to discover European films, held its first meeting of 2024 from March 5 to 8, hosted by Sakarya University. The event served as an important platform for supporting creative educational practices that promote cultural diversity and transferring Europe’s cinematic heritage to younger generations.

The 2nd International Symposium on Teaching Turkish as a Heritage and Foreign Language Successfully Concluded

Within the scope of the “Language Tree” Project, in which Sakarya University is a partner and which is supported by the European Commission, the 2nd International Symposium on Teaching Turkish as a Heritage and Foreign Language (ISOHTEL) was successfully held, hosted by the YADOT Education Association and organized at Istanbul Bilgi University. The event strengthened academic interaction at the international level in the fields of teaching Turkish, intercultural communication, and the preservation of linguistic heritage.

Sakarya University Faculty of Education Hosted an International Education Meeting in Ireland

Within the scope of the Erasmus+ Project supported by the Turkish National Agency, Sakarya University organized an international educational event in Donegal, Ireland. At the meeting, which was attended by experts from Romania, Finland, Ireland, and Italy, workshops and seminars were held on ensuring the continuity of education during natural disasters and emergencies. As a result of the studies, publications and scenario applications titled “Learning in Difficult Times (LEAD)” were prepared. In addition, a decision was made to participate in the European Commission’s Teacher Academies initiative, with the goal for Sakarya University to assume leadership in teacher education and curriculum development in 2025. This event contributed to the strengthening of international cooperation in education.
