Sakarya University faculty members are appointed as members or consultants in policy making for the purpose of implementing programs and policies to end poverty in all its dimensions in local (SESAM), regional (SESAM), national (ISEFAM, İKSAR) or global (SETA) organizations. Within the scope of these duties, faculty members regularly conduct research and publish reports in the mentioned institutions. These prepared reports are shared with the society and relevant administrative units (municipalities, ministries, etc.). Thus, our faculty members contribute to decision-making processes on economic issues and initiatives to reduce poverty in all dimensions (URL 1).
In addition, some of our faculty members regularly participate in television programs every week on many national and local television channels, including the state's national television channel (TRT), and make economic evaluations in the sessions in order to inform the society and decision-makers.
Sakarya University is carrying out actions and activities within the scope of the Provincial Action Plan prepared to enable Roman citizens living in Sakarya to benefit from social assistance and social services. Within the plan, the university participates in periodic meetings and collaborates with other relevant institutions and organizations.
After the Kahramanmaraş earthquake in February 2023 a disaster policy was developed and implemented by our university to address the needs of earthquake victims. In this context, both in-kind and financial aid were delivered to the affected areas. Psychosocial support was provided to the earthquake victims. Research projects were initiated for the reconstruction of the region. A psychosocial support program was also provided to the earthquake victims in Sakarya (URL 2, URL 3, URL 4).
