Sakarya University actively supports the conscious use of water on campus and in society. Good water management lessons are given within the scope of Sakarya University lesson plans. These courses are open to all our students, and course grades can be accessed through the education information system. In addition to lecture notes, the university organizes public seminars on good water management. Projects developed by academics who are experts in good water management are financed from external sources, and public information meetings and seminars are organized to disseminate the project results.

Seminars and education programs about water management for local communities |
Our academic staff and students organize or participate to the events about environmental and water saving. For example; Associate Professor Dr. Asude Ateş from Sakarya University contributed to the "Environment Day" with her presentation [URL]. Additionally, there are reminder visuals in campus water usage areas to draw attention to water-saving use. In addition to incentive and information practices, there are water-saving devices at many points of the campus.
Sakarya University also supports water saving outside of campus. Sakarya University attaches importance to the protection of natural resources and proudly hosts studies in this field in the region. In the events organized by Sakarya University and attended by regional managers, current practices and risks are discussed, while suggestions for the protection of water resources are also discussed [URL][URL].

Sakarya University actively promotes sustainable water management through the Test Bed Center, established in 2019 [URL]. This center facilitates advanced modeling of energy and water management systems within a real-world setting, bridging academic research with practical application. The aim is not only to deepen national expertise in sustainable resource management but also to drive initiatives in domestic and national production technologies.
Within the campus, natural springs are harnessed for irrigation purposes. Water extracted from these springs is stored in multiple tanks and utilized to automatically irrigate all green areas on campus. This system ensures efficient water use and reduces reliance on external water sources.
To strengthen local water sustainability efforts, Sakarya University collaborates closely with SASKİ, the organization responsible for water supply in Sakarya. This partnership supports various R&D studies, awareness programs, and water management initiatives that directly benefit the region. Furthermore, university academics are engaged in significant regional and national research projects focused on water security. Insights from these projects are shared with regional management authorities, informing actionable improvements and fostering a culture of continuous enhancement in local water practices.

Researches of Water Management at Test Bed Center |
Sakarya University actively collaborates with local, regional, national, and international entities to enhance water security. Locally, the university partners with the Sakarya Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ) on various research and development initiatives, promotional programs, and joint efforts aimed at improving water management practices within the region.
On a national level, university academics engage in research projects focused on water security, sharing their findings with regional management units to inform and guide improvement actions in water management strategies.
Internationally, Sakarya University contributes to the global discourse on water security and treatment through research publications. For instance, in 2023, researchers from the university published a study titled "Electrospun PVDF Membranes Incorporated with Functionalized Carbon-based Material for Removal of Cationic Dyes," which explores the development of advanced membrane technologies for water purification applications [URL].
Another 2023 study, "Application and Performance Evaluation of Chemical Coagulation, Electrocoagulation, Electro-Fenton and Anodic Oxidation Processes in the Treatment of Glass Fiber Manufacturing Wastewater," investigates various advanced oxidation processes for treating industrial wastewater, providing valuable insights into effective water treatment methods [URL].
Through these collaborative efforts and contributions to international research on water treatment, Sakarya University plays a significant role in advancing water security initiatives both locally and globally.
