1.3.5 – Support for Students from Low or Lower-Middle-Income Countries

Sakarya University (SAU), in line with its 2023–2027 Strategic Plan, supports international students' access to higher education and academic opportunities through established financial assistance and international mobility programmes.

Within this framework, the University participates in the Erasmus+ KA171 International Credit Mobility Programme, which provides grant-supported academic mobility opportunities for incoming students from partner countries, including lower-middle-income countries. During the 2025 reporting year, students from lower-middle-income countries benefited from this programme, enabling their participation in educational and research activities at Sakarya University.

Furthermore, under the University's Meal Scholarship Directive, 10% of the total meal scholarship quota is reserved for international students. This institutional support mechanism contributes to meeting students' basic food needs and reducing financial barriers during their studies. The programme operates through established application and assessment procedures, as reflected in the 2025–2026 Meal Scholarship Results Announcement.

Together, these initiatives demonstrate Sakarya University's commitment to supporting international students, including those from low and lower-middle-income countries, through structured financial assistance and academic mobility opportunities.
