8.2.6 Employment Policy Pay Scale Equity

Sakarya University (SAU) adopts the principles of gender equality, equal opportunity, and non-discrimination in its employment and remuneration practices. The University's human resources approach is guided by national legislation and institutional policies promoting equality and inclusiveness.

In accordance with Article 5 of the Turkish Labour Law No. 4857, lower remuneration cannot be established on the grounds of gender for the same work or work of equal value. Furthermore, Article 10 of the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye guarantees equality between women and men, while Article 55 establishes the principle of fair remuneration.

The remuneration of academic and administrative personnel is governed by the relevant provisions of Civil Servants Law No. 657 and Higher Education Personnel Law No. 2914, under which salary calculations are based on legally defined criteria, including position, academic or administrative title, grade, and step.

The University's 2025 Institutional Performance Programme further reinforces these principles through its human resources and sustainable university policies, which emphasize equal opportunity, inclusiveness, and gender equality.

Throughout the 2025 reporting period (1 January–31 December 2025), Sakarya University's remuneration framework was guided by these legal provisions and institutional principles, supporting a gender-equitable approach to employment and pay.
