Physical access across campus

Sakarya University’s Construction and Technical Works Department identifies three buildings in which it carried out physical accessibility works in 2025. Its activity presentation specifies the installation or intervention at each site. The University’s accessibility directive establishes the general standards for works and procurement, and the Coordination Office reports a TRY 2.5 million allocation for architectural accessibility that year. [1, 7, 8]

In 2025 the Technical Works Department installed tactile guidance, anti-slip strips, glass markings and Braille door signs at the Rectorate and carried out accessible-toilet, emergency exit and ramp works. It records accessible-toilet works at the Faculty of Science and installation of emergency-button wiring for the accessible toilet in Block B of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. [1]

The University’s Green Campus gallery and its 2022 Green Campus Report identify a wheelchair ramp at the Library, an accessible toilet with grab rails, and a lift at the Faculty of Law. The Library and Documentation Department’s 2025 report also identifies the Central Library as an Orange Flag recipient for physical accessibility. The photographs identify these facilities. The Technical Works presentation separately dates the building interventions described above. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The University distinguishes Orange Flags for physical accessibility, Green Flags for educational access and Blue Flags for social and cultural participation. Across 2022–2025 it reports 13 Orange, 20 Green and 3 Blue flags. The separate 2025 Programme Badge competition recognised 40 SAÜ academic programmes for inclusive teaching and support, placing the University first nationally in that competition. The awards describe different aspects of accessibility. The Department’s named building records identify the actual scope of the 2025 physical works. [1, 5, 6]
