Trade Union Recognition and Collective Bargaining Rights

Sakarya University recognises and supports the trade union rights of its employees, including freedom of association, trade union membership and collective bargaining, in accordance with national legislation and institutional policies.

The University's Human Resources Policy explicitly recognises employees' trade union rights and participation in collective bargaining. These rights are supported by the relevant national legal framework, particularly Law No. 4688 on Public Servants' Trade Unions and Collective Bargaining and Law No. 6356 on Trade Unions and Collective Labour Agreements.

Institutional Implementation and Trade Union Representation

Sakarya University demonstrates its commitment to trade union recognition and employee representation through its collective bargaining relationship with the Koop-İş Trade Union, which represents workers at the University.

The University's Collective Labour Agreement documents the institutional framework for trade union representation, collective bargaining and employee rights.

On 3 March 2025, representatives of Koop-İş Trade Union met with the University's Secretary-General to initiate discussions concerning the third-term collective labour agreement. This meeting demonstrates the continuation of institutional dialogue and collective bargaining practices during 2025.

The meeting was publicly documented by Koop-İş Trade Union – Third-Term Collective Bargaining Discussions.

Transparency and Institutional Commitment

Through its publicly accessible Human Resources Policy, collective labour agreement documentation and engagement with trade union representatives, Sakarya University demonstrates its institutional commitment to trade union recognition, freedom of association and collective bargaining rights.

These practices support the University's broader commitment to fair employment practices, employee representation and the protection of labour rights.
